We’ve teamed up with Onward Israel to provide a NEW subsidized summer internship program, which will make spending summer in Israel an affordable option for young professionals and graduates seeking international work experience.
The Onward | Top Israel Interns Program subsidizes approximately a third of the program fees for eligible applicants, and offers $800 spending money to help cover your personal expenses in Israel.
Interns are placed in top quality internships in their field, given career development training, various trips and tours of Israel, and set up in trendy apartment accommodation in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.
Living in Jerusalem
Take a 10 minute walk up from the Old City and you’ll find the historic neighborhood of Nachlaot. Known for its beautiful buildings and maze of cobbled alleyways, this picturesque neighborhood is a treasure hunt waiting to happen.
Straight across the road you’ll find the famous Machane Yehuda marketplace, which come nightfall, transforms into one of Israel’s most popular nightlife hangouts with a wide variety of trendy bars, restaurants, and live music performers. In addition to this, you’re just moments from the city’s social hub, where you’ll find a selection of clubs, bars, and coffee shops.
Situated right in the center of town, you’re only a short walk from some of Israel’s leading companies, and 5 minutes away from the light-rail and central bus station, which offers you a speedy commute to all parts of Israel.
Living in Tel Aviv
Jaffa is the ancient port city out of which Tel Aviv developed. It is rich in history, and has countless social and tourist attractions. The Old City and port feature beautiful restored buildings, art galleries, theaters, souvenir shops, restaurants, and sidewalk cafes. Jaffa is famous for its buzzing flea market, and has become a highly sought after area due to its unique character, close proximity to the center of town, and some of the best restaurants and tourist attractions in Tel Aviv.
Situated between Tel Aviv’s ritzy Neve Tzedek quarter and the port town of Jaffa, the trendy neighborhood of Florentin is popular with both tourists, and the young hip up-and-comers who call it home. Whether you fall in love with its the designer stores, street art, nightlife, or boho coffee shops, there’s a good chance you won’t want to leave.
When it comes to internship opportunities, Florentin is just a short walk from Tel Aviv’s buzzing city center. Once in town, the workplace is abuzz with successful startups and global companies which are quickly turning Tel Aviv into one the most innovative economic hot-spots in the world.
Some of our newest apartments are in the very central Nachalat Binyamin neighborhood. It’s the hub of arts and culture in Tel Aviv, and an extremely sought after location. There is always something to do, and new streets to explore. There are many coffee shops and cafes to try out, and living here in such a central location, you’ll have easy access to the rest of the city as well!
The program is open to anyone between ages 18 – 30 who would like to intern in Israel. However, *in most cases, participants will need to meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for the subsidized program fee:
- Between the ages of 19 and 27
- Undergraduate or graduate student (including those who have graduated within 1 year of program start date)
- Jewish according the Israeli law of return
- Birthright Israel alumni who have not yet returned to Israel on a peer program, or Teen travel programs alumni (who are ineligible for birthright because of their teen travel participation), unless they have:
– returned to Israel on a MASA program
– spent more than three months total in Israel after their teen program
* A few subsidized places are reserved for applicants who are not eligible according to the above criteria.
The Application Process
To discover the right internship for you, we have fine-tuned the application process. Our recruitment team breaks down your search into five easy steps.
Step 1: Initial Chat with a Program Representative
During this chat, we get to learn more about you. Any questions you may have are answered, and our program rep will give you a better idea about what we’re all about.
Step 2: The Interview
During this interview, we get to learn more about your career aspirations, strengths and weaknesses, what you’re studying, and previous work experience. Don’t have much experience? No problem. That’s what we’re here for.
Step 3: Grants & Paperwork
At this point, we send you all the necessary forms to fill out. This includes a link to the Onward Israel grant application form, and our program acceptance form. We also request that applicants send us their resume and cover letter, and make a down payment of $200 for us to begin the search for your ideal internship placement.
Step 4: The Internship-Hunt with Your Own Employment Coach
One of the things that makes our program unique is the career and life coaching included as part of the package. Your employment coach will help you discover the best opportunities for your professional development. In addition, we teach you how to optimize your resume, and cover letter, in order to land your dream internship.
Step 5: Quality Assurance
During the course of your internship, if you need advice on improving your internship experience or have any problems, your employment coach will available to speak with you and your mentor. If, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied, we will help you find an alternative internship. We are dedicated to your success, and are looking forward to helping you launch your career.
