Your Career Post-Corona

If you’re wondering when life will get back to normal, and what that normal will look like after Coronavirus – you’re not alone! Corona has caused a lot of uncertainty in the job market, and put a big question mark next to any upcoming personal and professional plans.

It’s easy to let it get us down, and honestly, no one could blame you if you weren’t using the time to become fluent in conversational Madarin, or to learn to play the clarinet. Being productive when you’re concerned about the future, is no easy feat.

Despite this, we all want to do our best, and look for ways to stay happy, and keep moving forward professionally.

In Israel, we’re almost a month into our lockdown, and over the last few weeks our team has had a chance to adjust to working from home, and found their own ways to stay productive.

Here are some of our team’s best tips:

1. Start by waking up

It’s easy to sleep late and binge on Netflix, but after a few days that routine gets depressing. Getting up at the same time everyday, taking a shower, and getting dressed has amazing power to make you feel good (normal) and help set you up for a productive day.

2. Set small goals first

Deciding to write your autobiography might seem like a great idea, but why not start with making your bed? Break your work or school tasks down into manageable bite sized portions, and schedule realistic time slots to achieve those goals. The constant satisfaction of achieving small goals, helps you fuel the bigger goals, and keep up your momentum.

3. Avoid the news

Believe it or not, you don’t actually have to know how many people tested positive for Coronavirus today. Does having this info help you or anyone else? More than anything it just gets you down, and turns into a huge time waster. If you’re staying home, you’re doing your part. If you want to do more, then volunteer to go to the drug store or grocery store for someone who can’t.

4. Focus further into the future

The next couple of months might be a little iffy, but there’s nothing wrong with planning well ahead, and giving yourself something to really look forward to.

If you’re not sure what your professional future will be after Corona, or if you’re concerned that you’ll have to settle for less because of it, that really does not have to be the case. Use this time to your advantage.

5. Start now, with this

We are busy matching countless young professionals with both paid and unpaid internships that will start in Sepetember this year. Right now, you have time to strategize, time to really assess your goals, and how you want to go about achieving them. It’s a great time to reach out to one of our career advisers and see what opportunities will be available to you later in the year.

Whether you’re interested in a 5 month internship, or 9 month paid position, both programs offer incredible value and affordability. Top Israel Intern’s standard of job placements and accommodation is exceptional, and you’re guaranteed a highly beneficial boost to your skills and resume.

Program costs start from as little as $3000, and include all your accommodation, transport, program support, and tour activities. Aside from getting to live and work in Tel Aviv, and enjoy the vibe of this beach-side city, it’s a great opportunity to start an exciting new chapter.

If you want to channel your quarantine anxiety into something positive, pour it into planning for something fun that’s going to benefit your future.

We’re all housebound right now, but we’re still working and available to help you figure out your future. Contact us at admissions@topisraelinterns.com and we’ll set up a time to speak.
