Fundraising Officer

The Fundraising Officer is an essential position at the World Union of Jewish Students, ensuring the continued success of WUJS. S/he will be directly supervised by the WUJS Chairperson.

Main responsibilities:
To motivate and facilitate supporters to maximise the funds they donate;
To inspire new supporters to donate to WUJS, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters;
To develop new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which will involve organising events;
To raise awareness of WUJS and its work at local and national levels, e.g. by giving talks to groups or working with the Communications Officer to seek photo opportunities with the media;
To develop and coordinate web-based fundraising and merchandise sales;
To increase funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity’s aims and activities;
To develop and implement a strategy for individual and organisational supporter recruitment and development;
To manage and update databases to record donor contact and preference information;
To write applications and mail-shots, using direct mailing to reach a wide range of potential and current donors;
To make risk analyses and balance time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate fundraising activities with the highest chance of success.
Other tasks as decided by your line manager and in accordance to the needs of the organization.

Required Skills:

A proven ability to write English to a high level and effective verbal communication
Commitment to the mission and vision of WUJS
Experience of either leading or contributing to charity fundraising especially in the Jewish world
A good knowledge and experience in using social media platforms and tools
Student or recent university graduate (within 3 years)
Proficient with Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with students, stakeholders, partners and donors.
Responsibility for self-motivation when working remotely and willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to last minute changes – must be able to work well under pressure
Fluency in English required; fluency in Hebrew or any European languages is an asset.
