WUJS Communications Officer Position

The Communication Officer assumes a key position at the forefront of the World Union of Jewish Students, working to improve the visibility of WUJS. S/he will be directly supervised by the Projects Director.

Responsibilities:

  • To define and implement the organization’s internal and external communication strategies,
  • To maintain regular contact with our member unions, partner organisations, event participants and alumni
  • To maintain and monitor all WUJS digital and social media
  • To work with designers to develop all WUJS publications
  • To write and edit press releases, speeches, articles, leaflets and blogs about campus and the work of WUJS
  • Managing and building a network of student journalists to write blogs for WUJS
  • To collate information, draft and edit monthly newsletters for students and supporters
  • Maintaining and updating the WUJS website
  • Pitching articles and opinion pieces to editors/journalists for Jewish, Israeli and other media
  • Other tasks as decided by your line manager and in accordance to the needs of the organization.

Requirements:

  • A proven ability to write news articles, opinion pieces and press releases and effective verbal communication
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of WUJS
  • Experience of either leading or contributing to the preparation of publicity materials, posters, leaflets or sales materials
  • Proficient in proofreading and editing
  • A good knowledge and experience in using social media platforms and tools
  • Student or recent university graduate (within 3 years)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic use of Adobe software – Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as well as any graphic design skills is desirable
  • Experience in video editing is desirable
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with students, stakeholders and educational institutions
  • self-motivated when working remotely
  • Willing to work flexible hours and adapt to last minute changes – must be able to work well under pressure
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in Hebrew or any European languages is an asset.

The World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) is the international, pluralistic, non-partisan umbrella organisation comprised of 48 national independent Jewish Student Unions based all over the world; representing approximately 600,000 Jewish Students. The member unions of WUJS run cross-communal, peer-led programs and initiatives for Jewish students all across the world.
