I moved from the suburbs of New York City to Manhattan two years ago to experience culture, new ideas, and new people. However, it wasn't until I came to Israel that I feel I really discovered myself. I met amazing lifetime friends, and the Top Israel Interns staff was fantastic and so helpful. Finally, for the first time in my life, I felt home. My experience started September 2013 and almost a year and a half later I am still here in Israel.
The few extraordinary months that I lived in Israel with Top Israel Interns, I lived, traveled, and worked with an eclectic mix of people from around the world, many of whom I'm in touch with to this day. For me Israel was a transformative experience - not only spiritually and culturally, of course, but also socially and at a personal level. Somehow Israel feels not like a second home, but like your only real home. It's the only place in the world where everybody else is just like you: multicultural, adventurous, intellectually curious, and inquisitive.
I'm 23 currently doing a masters in global studies (political science). I have been in the summer program doing an internship at Media Central in Jerusalem. It was an amazing experience - both the job and the people i met through the program. My supervisor wrote me a great recommendation letter which will be very useful. Top Israel Interns gave me a good opportunity to have work experience in the field I'm interested in and also to live in Israel day by day like a real Israeli!
I'm currently in graduate school at Georgetown University. When I look back at the past 6 months I spent in Israel I continue to be amazed at just how enriching it was. It's taken me until now to realize just how much experience I earned, the magnitude of the culture, people, and politics I was exposed to during - what feels like, a very short time there.
